How to be a CEO…of MeNovember 28, 2012 – 4:56 am |

A few years back, I wrote a blog titled “Are you the CEO of yourself?” which drew on the analogy of a CEO running a company, applying it to our personal lives. In the article, important questions were posed about internal leadership qualities, such as self-direction, motivation and organization. A mantra emerged – “I am the CEO of me, and therefore, it is my responsibility to effectively organize my life.”
While there are naturally clear differences between our personal lives and the life of an average CEO, for me, having been a CEO now for 13 years, the distinction often gets blurred. I have applied business and leadership principles to my personal life in so many ways, similar to how I used to (and still often do) apply sports and team analogies to life challenges. After all of these years “in the field”, I am taking a step back to reflect on lessons learned, and in that process, it turns out, I have quite a bit to share!
In a few weeks from the time of this writing (on 12/12/12 to be exact), I am unveiling, for the first time ever, “my secret” formula for Time Management and Life Optimization. The concept of being CEO of Me is central in the system that I’ve devised, continuously refined and lived by over the past 13 years. Like any good CEO, we need to be open to feedback, new ideas and criticism in our personal lives; however, in the end, you can’t pass the buck or blame anyone else for what happens in your life. The CEO of Me Workshop is an intensive, four hour journey into a new way to approach life and goal-setting. Participants will be taught tools like Timebug.me, that enable them to effectively and realistically map out an entire year (all 8,760 hours of it), in a constructive, fluid way. The constant connection between “the big picture” life vision and the daily details is one of the central tenets of the system.
I am extremely excited about this opportunity to share something that has been the central organizing framework of my hectic, yet somehow balanced, entrepreneurial life. The plan is to unveil the teachings through this workshop series in Q4-2012, and subsequently build upon that momentum with the release of the Timebug.me Personal Intelligence App in Q2-2013. None of this could have been possible without the brainiacs at Blueliner Labs, our R&D division, which has been operating in stealth mode over the past 18 months on Timebug, and a variety of other cutting edge technology ventures that you will be hearing more about in 2013. I am also thankful to see the evolution of Anar Studios, Blueliner’s multi-purpose creative space, into an interactive learning environment. Anar, located 5 minutes from the World Trade Center PATH train, in Jersey City, will be hosting the workshops.
So if you want to get some hands-on training directly from me, on how to be a CEO of Me, then consider registering on one of the two workshop dates in December (Wed, 12/12 and Sat, 12/15). The Saturday session will be livecast for those of you not in the Tri-State Area, for less than $100. I’m looking forward to being with quite a few fellow CEOs (of Me!), live in December.
