I’ve held off on getting an iPhone for three years now.  The reasons why have been perfectly captured by Motorola, Verizon and Google’s new Droid phone, which is making all of the promises that I want to hear from my mobile device provider.  As a CEO of a global interactive marketing agency, I am always looking for Personal Productivity Tools (PPTs) that can help me better organize my own life, as well as my business.  We use a host of web-based apps like Zoho, compete.com and Google apps, so that we can analyze our client SEO keywords on the move and provide strong web analytics.  In my mind, the Iphone doesn’t maximize efficiency on many levels, from the keyboard interface to the poor network service of AT&T. Here is why I am one of the first in line for the Droid phone.

For the past two years, the DMA has asked me to conduct a webinar on Top Web Design Trends.  Droid’s website design is definitely going to make my list for one of the year’s best.  This screen shot of the home page doesn’t do justice to the sophisticated interface, which you ought to experience on your own.  They present the product with a round, circular navigation feature, and that’s not easy to execute. Verizon pulled it off beautifully, and it cements the Droid as a serious brand in their phone portfolio. The site has rich features, good lighting, and the Times Square module where you see the buzz through Droid is fantastic.

Overall, Verizon did a great job in marketing the Droid. I expect to receive my smartphone in a few days and will provide a full review after using it for a few weeks.  If anyone else out there has a good review, post it here.

  2. I’ve been using the Droid now for about 2 weeks and really like it. But, I sure wish I could email someone while talking to them. Cmon guys make the 3g accessible while on phone.

  3. I tend to be old school when it comes to using cell phones for stuff other than calling and texting. I do like the way the iPhone works but I don’t really want to spend so much money for the service, especially when I am doing fine without it.

Now I do like my laptop and my Sprint card, I just don’t think I can do the same kinds of things with a hand-held smart device. Time will probably bring me around…
